The Coastal or Eastern carpet python (Morelia s. mcdowelli), is probably the most common form of carpet python, and definitely one of the most popular and are probably the most variable sub species of the Morelia spilota species.

Womas belong to the genus Aspidites and differ from all other pythons except black-headeds by the absence of heat sensing labial pits. Womas are a medium sized python with dark eyes.

Proserpine Carpet Pythons are found locally on the Whitsunday coast below Bowen. They are a very colourful python and often display lighter colours with orange and golden tones compared to other coastal carpet pythons.
